Windy sailing

After a weekend of racing sponsored by Odesi Fusion, Monday's general sailing looked to be about to be cancelled due to strong wind but conditions moderated allowing two boats to get afloat.
Don't forget our Open Day on Sunday 5th from 11am. Come along and have a go!

Rather blustery conditions this weekend, 20-21 April. Several capsizes during the first of the "Heathen's" races. (so called because they take place on Sunday mornings)  All three Lasers sailing had at least one dip in the Tay, while the Phantom showed remarkable speed backwards when he got stuck "in irons" (head to wind). There is still a lot of flow in the river though nothing like last week. Andrew Porteous showed the younger guys how it should be done sailing his Solo expertly to finish ahead of all the "faster" boats and win the race.

Dewar Series postponed
With the volume of water in the river preventing any sailing since Saturday, the remainder of the Dewar Series has been postponed till 14, 15, 16 & 18 May, two races each day. Even if you missed the first two races, you could still qualify as six races count. More details on the website, www.perthsailingclub.org.uk

So far only two races of the 2013 Dewar Series have been sailed. Graham Keir seems the man to beat so far.
Nobody felt like having a game of  dodge the tree on Sunday as the overnight rain raised the river level and speed beyond what looked possible. With luck, it will abate quickly allowing the rest of the series to be sailed.
