RNLI Visits Perth Sailing Club
Last Sunday, the sea safety team from the RNLI visited Perth Sailing Club to demonstrate the effectiveness of using a rib as a safety boat for Club events.In addition, the RNLI team of Rick Raeburn and Michael Avril used the opportunity to deliver a very good short course in how to use a rib to rescue a casualty from the water.
“We are absolutely delighted that the RNLI Sea Safety Team visited us” said Malcolm Moore, Commodore of Perth Sailing Club
“Their skill, extensive knowledge of ribs, safety on the water is of huge benefit to Perth Sailing Club and it’s Members.“ continued Malcolm. “We aim to provide one of the best and indeed safest sailing facilities in Scotland for people of all ages to learn to sail and enjoy the fantastic sport of sailing” concluded Malcolm.
“It was a pleasure and we are really pleased that Perth Sailing Club takes such a proactive interest in safety on the water” said Michael Avril, of the RNLI Safety Team.
“We are only too happy to assist sailing clubs with advice & training on a whole range of subjects relating to safety” concluded Michael.
The Perth Sailing Club was formed in 1949 to encourage participation in the sport of dinghy sailing and to facilitate competitive sailing on the River Tay near Perth.
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea.
