Perth Sailing Club Committee News 3rd April 2012

Committee News

There was a meeting on 3rd of April when it was agreed to send the Rear Commodore [Bob Watson] to a Senior Instructor’s course, so that we can be a bit more self contained and be able to train our own instructors.
It was approved to create a new ‘Past Commodore’s board’ as space has run out on the present boards.
Trace heating has been installed in the club to allow the water to remain switched on in the winter for the rowing club.
The possibility of getting some second hand cupboards to upgrade the Galley, now that the disused door has been blocked off, is to be explored.
Another meeting was held after the Heathens race on 29th April mainly to discuss the arrangements for the sailing exhibition and the open day.
It was felt the profile of the club might be better served by a static exhibition in the High street or St John’s centre rather than just sailing up into the city, and permission to explore this were put into train.
It was also agreed to market the club by means of social media, blogs and twitter. Can we ask member to promulgate the club through their friends, as new members are what we need.
The quiz night was a great success and a fine boost to club funds. Audrey and John are to be congratulated and thanked for their efforts.
We are still having problems with one of the outboards. It was agreed to allow the Boats Officer until the end of this season to fix it. If this is not possible we are going to have to replace it, which will be an expense in the region of £2500.
The RYA are using the club for a meeting on 30th May in the evening.
Finally Keith Fergie has volunteered to take over the secretarial duties which Jose da Costa has had to relinquish and for this I am most grateful.
Malcolm Moore.
